THE SCRIPTURES

We believe that the Bible is the divinely inspire, infallible, authoritative Word of God, without error in the original languages, and contains the will of God completely, and everything one must believe to be saved is sufficiently taught in it.  (II Timothy 3:16; Gal 1:8)

GOD, THE TRINITY

We believe that there is one infinite, supreme, holy, loving, personal God, eternally existent in three distinct persons of one single essence: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Isaiah 45:22; Matthew 28:19; II Corinthians 13:14).

THE FATHER

We believe the Father is the cause, origin, and source of creation, all things visible and invisible, and sovereign over all affairs of humanity and creation (Gen. 1-2; Ex. 20:11; Ps. 33:6; Isa. 44:24; Acts 4:24; Acts 14:15; Ps. 104; Mat. 10:29; Eph. 1:11)

CREATION

We believe God, as creator of heaven and earth, has given all creatures their being, form, and appearance to the service of Him, and sustains and governs them all according to his Holy Will.  God has created human beings in His image and likeness.  By this creation, preservation, and government of the universe, God makes us ponder His eternal power and divinity, and leaves us no excuse but to know Him (Gen. 1-2; Ex. 20:11; Heb. 1:3; Romans 1:20).

We believe that God wonderfully foreordained and immutably created each person as either male or female in conformity with their biological sex. These two distinct yet complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God (Genesis 1:26–27). We believe in the sanctity of marriage as the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture (Genesis 2:18-25, Matthew 19:4-6) and in the sanctity of life (Genesis1:27; Exodus 20:13; Psalm 139:13-16).

FALL (OR CONDITION OF MAN)

We believe that humanity has subjected ourselves willingly to sin when we transgressed the commandments of God.  Through this sin, we have separated from God and corrupted our entire nature, losing our excellent gifts from God, and made ourselves miserable. (Gen 3; Romans 3:9-20, 23, 5:12-13; 1 John 1:8,10; Jer. 17:9; Rom. 7:23-24, 8:7; Eph 2:1-3; Titus 3:3)

THE PERSON AND WORK OF CHRIST

We believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, God’s one and only son, born of the virgin Mary, lived a truly human and sinless life, suffered, crucified and died as the atoning sacrifice for our sin, bodily resurrected, and ascended to heaven. (Act 1:9-11, Rom 8:34, 1 John 2:1)

THE PERSON AND WORK OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

We believe the Holy Spirit is given to us, so that, through true Faith, we are regenerated to share in Christ and all his benefits. (1 Cor. 6:19; 2 Cor. 1:21-22; Gal. 4:6; Gal. 3:14)

SALVATION

We believe Jesus Christ has appeased the Father’s wrath for humanity’s transgressions, by offering himself on the cross and pouring out his precious blood for the cleansing and forgiveness of our sins, and now he advocates on our behalf in the presence of the Father.  (Gen 2:17, Rom 8:3-4; Phil. 2:8; Heb 2:9; John 13:12-14)

FAITH AND ASSURANCE

We believe that we are justified by our faith in Christ alone, through His grace. Faith is the instrument that keeps us in communion with him and with all his benefits.  True faith is not only a certain knowledge, where we hold the truth that God has revealed to us in His Word, but also an assured confidence, which the Holy Spirit works by the gospel, in our hearts.  The remission of sin, everlasting righteousness, and salvation are freely given by God, merely of grace, only for the sake of Christ’s merits. (Eph 2:8-9; John 3:36; Rom. 1:17 (Hab. 2:4); Rom. 5:1-2; Heb. 10:22; Eph. 2:8; Rom. 6:14; Titus 2:11)

KINGDOM MISSION

We believe that the community of believers are to live in union with each other and with our Lord Jesus Christ, (I Corinthians 12:12-27; Ephesians 4:3-6) and that the community of believers, individually and together are enabled by the Holy Spirit (I Corinthians 12:4-7; Ephesians 4:11) to fulfill the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19) and use our gifts to readily and joyfully for the service and enrichment of the other members (Rom. 12:4-8; Phil. 2:4-8).

FINAL AUTHORITY FOR MATTERS OF BELIEF AND CONDUCT

The statement of faith does not exhaust the extent of our beliefs.  The Bible itself, as the inspired and infallible Word of God that speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind, is the sole and final source of all that we believe.  For the purposes of Veritas Christian Academy’s faith doctrine, practice, policy, and discipline, our Board of Trustees is the final interpretive authority on the Bible’s meaning and application.
