Since early 2014, Veritas Christian Academy has been sponsoring two children through Compassion International. Prior to this time, Veritas Christian Academy had been trying to find different ways to follow God's call of global ministry, and by December of 2013, we became part of the movement that reaches the world for Christ.
Compassion International's goal is to "release children from poverty in Jesus'’ name." Below are just some of the many places in Scripture where God's people are called to help those less fortunate than themselves. As believers, we must obey this global call from our Lord.
"Truly I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me."
"Give justice to the weak and the fatherless; maintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute."
"Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction.
"Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God."
-1 John 4:7
How do we raise the money to support this endeavor? About every other Friday, students at Veritas have the opportunity to dress out-of-uniform for the school day. In order to dress down, students bring in one dollar. Although the idea of “dress down days” has existed since the beginning of the school, it now has a specific purpose. This investment every other week is able to support two Kenyan children, Lennox (8 years old) and Josphine (7 years old) who are living in poverty. 100% of the money collected on “Dress Down Days” goes towards these children’s education, health, birthday and Christmas gifts, food, clean water, and spiritual growth. Click here to learn more about how this money is used.
We welcome you aboard as we invest in these precious children's lives! Besides monetary gifts, we ask that you keep Lennox and Josphine in your prayers. This is one of the most effective ways to impact these children. Click here for a 31 day prayer plan for Lennox and Josephine.
Letters from the children will be sent out in The Veritas Vine, and often hung on the board by the school office, so check them out to see what is going on in their lives! We are excited to begin another year of supporting Lennox and Josphine!
For God’s Glory,
The Veritas Student Council
