Text: How Now Shall We Live? by Charles Colson & Nancy Pearcey
Description: Having established a good foundation during the Freshman year of what a Christian worldview is using the text “Thinking Like a Christian”, in 10th grade the student is challenged to see how that worldview stands in comparison to the most dominant worldview that competes against it—Naturalism. Using the text written by Charles Colson & Nancy Pearcey entitled “How Now Shall We Live?” the authors’ masterfully track through the ages and show how both worldviews have answered the 3 predominant worldview questions: Where did we come from?, What went wrong?, and How do we fix it? Through the structure of Creation, Fall, Redemption, and Restoration, the student is shown how the Bible answers these issues and then simultaneously is also introduced to the leading movements and spokesmen of the Naturalist worldview and how they’ve responded to these same issues. The goal is to give the student an intelligent and informed journey of what has shaped and molded our culture to bring it to the point of where it is today and how they have been called to participate in redeeming fallen culture for God’s glory.

Text: Understanding the Times by David A. Noebel
Description: Using the material entitled “Understanding the Times” by Dave Knoebel, the student is challenged to see the following academic and culture-shaping areas of study through six distinctly different worldviews; the areas include: theology, philosophy, ethics, biology, psychology, sociology, law, politics, economics, and history. The six most predominant worldviews or lenses through which the student studies each of these ten areas are: Christian, Islam, Secular Humanist, Marxist-Leninist, Cosmic Humanist (New Age), and Postmodernist. Interwoven through all this material are relevant and contemporary issues which the student is facing every day which range from abortion, euthanasia, biotechnology, art, and entertainment, to issues involving the environment, deconstructionism, revisionism, homosexuality, and Intelligent Design to name a few. The student is taught to think analytically, critically, and most importantly biblically in how he’s to respond to these very important issues that the church is presently facing. God calls the Christian student to be a thinking and intelligent and informed person as well as a steward of the Word of God; He wants him to be a thoughtful and responsible Christian and image bearer of God who responds to his calling to redeem all of culture as both a culture creator and a culture shaper just like his heavenly Father.
