School Board Members

Eric Thiessen, President has served on the Veritas board in various capacities for over 15 years.  Prior to that, he had also served on the board of Sussex Christian School.  His two sons both attended Sussex Christian School and his youngest son, Josiah, is graduated from Veritas Christian Academy.  He and his wife, Lisa, reside in Wantage and are actively involved at Sussex Christian Reformed Church in Sussex NJ where they jointly lead the GriefShare program.  Eric received his bachelor's degree in Business Information Systems from Messiah College, Master's degrees from Stevens Institute of Technology (Information Management) and Messiah College (Strategic Leadership), and is currently pursuing a Master of Divinities at Calvin Theological Seminary.

David Marine, Vice President is the Chief Marketing Officer for Anywhere Brands where he oversees the marketing efforts for Coldwell Banker, Century 21, ERA Real Estate and Better Homes & Garden Real Estate.. David has 20+ years of marketing experience in everything from product development, digital marketing, national advertising and social media. David is a by-product of Christian education having attended Christian schools from K-12th grade and also graduated with a degree in marketing from Bob Jones University. David and his wife, Tara, have four boys who have all attended Christian schools including their oldest who graduated from Veritas in 2022. David attends Calvary Bible Chapel in Flanders, NJ where he serves as a trustee and has been a part of that ministry since he was 7 years old.

Trisha Bailey works as a Trainer and Community Liaison for Caregivers of NJ, a non-profit organization that provides case management services for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and in the past, was a high school Biology teacher. Trisha and her husband, Jason have been married for 18 years and reside in Hampton Township. They have two children who attend both Sussex Christian School and Veritas Christian Academy. Trisha is a devoted member of Lafayette Federated Church where she serves as the head of the Pastoral Relations Committee, is a worship leader, and also assists in women's ministry. She has a heart for helping those with various levels of need and is pleased to be serving on the Veritas Board.

Lisa Kuperus is Vice President of business Farmside Landscape & Design.  She is an active member at Sussex Christian Reformed Church and currently serves on the hospitality committee.  Her husband, Miles, and her have 5 adult children, all who have graduated from Sussex Christian School and Veritas Christian Academy.  Both had the blessing of a K-12 Christian Education, Lisa at Eastern Christian, and Miles at SCS and Eastern Christian High School.   Lisa holds a college degree from William Paterson University in Elementary Education and English Literature. Lisa is passionate about Christian Education and being a part of developing excellence in Christian education in Sussex County in grades PreK – 12.  Lisa currently serves on the SCS Education and PR Committees, while at the same time enjoying the privilege of serving on the Veritas Christian Academy  Board.  Lisa enjoys volunteering and serving in our community, reading books, spending time with family, watching sports, traveling and playing golf.

Kurt Gewecke is Owner and Managing Member of KG Companies. KG Companies has 4 major divisions, KG Builders, KG Management, KG Solar and KG Energy Services. Between the four companies, they provide general contracting, project and asset management, energy plant operations, renewable energy installations, electrical services, energy usage consulting, energy procurement and energy management services. Kurt is an elder at the Lafayette Federated Church, teaches adult Sunday school and volunteers many hours at his church. He holds a degree in Civil Engineering from the New Jersey Institute of Technology and is one of only 74 NABCEP Certified Solar Photovoltaic Professionals in NJ. Kurt and his wife, Cindy, are Ambassadors for the Alliance Defending Freedom and live at Culver Lake with their 4 children.

Dave Vander Groef is co-owner/operator at Wantage Excavating Company in Wantage, NJ, which recently celebrated their 50th year in business. He resides with his wife, Jennifer, and their son, Caleb, in Frankford Township, NJ. Prior to serving on the Veritas Board, Dave has served as a deacon at Sussex Christian Reformed Church, on the Project Development Committee at SCS and Veritas, as well as on the Board of Directors of LICA (Land Improvement Contractors of America).  The Vander Groefs are members of the Sussex Christian Reformed Church.

Dennis Dorrity is the Director of Business Development at Andersen Closets and is the parent of a current VCA student as well as one who has graduated VCA. Dennis has previously served on the board of Northwest Christian School in Newton, NJ where his children went to elementary and junior high school.
